If you’re thinking about growing out your pixie cut, but aren’t sure whether to take the plunge, you might want to read our previous post, “10 Reasons to Grow Out Your Pixie Cut” along with this one, before making a decision.
We won’t tell you what to do. (Sorry…) But we will help you weigh the pros and cons, so you can make an informed decision. As a fellow pixie, I know how hard this decision can be.
(I know, I know… #firstworldproblems. I don’t know about you, but I am thankful to live in a first-world country where how to style your hair is among the most difficult decisions we have to make as citizens.)
Maybe you’re like me, and you have a boyfriend or husband who wants you to grow your hair out. (That seems to be pretty common among men, doesn’t it?) But you really don’t want to. You like your short hair, and you need 10 reasons that will convince him to like it too. In that case, read on for 10 reasons to pull the plug on growing out your pixie, and keep it instead.
Reason #1: You love accessorizing. Not that you can’t accessorize with long hair. It’s just so easy to do with a pixie cut and it can drastically take your look from flat to PHAT in 5 seconds or less. (Yes, I just said phat-with-a-capital-P-H. I’m a 90s kid… it’s to be expected.)
Seriously though… headbands, bobby pins and scarves galore. The options abound and are so much fun to experiment with.
Reason #2: Fantasy colors. Pixies are cool, but you know what’s even cooler? Purple pixies. Pink ones too. And this woman proves that you can rock it at any age.
Reason #3: You rock short hair like a BOSS. Do you wake up in the morning and feel like this?
All the more reason to keep rockin’ that pixie.
Reason #4: You live in a warm climate. There’s nothing worse than sweaty locks stuck to the back of your neck on a hot summer day. And it’s even worse if you live in Miami. Chop it off, soak up some sun, and enjoy the freedom that comes with not having to worry about what the heat and humidity will do to your look.
Reason #5: Your ponytail looks more like the tail on a Doberman. We also mentioned this as a reason to grow out your pixie. It really depends on how you look at it (you know, the whole glass half-full vs. half-empty concept?) Maybe you’re in the middle of growing it out and you’re fed up with that pathetic excuse for a ponytail you keep trying to create every day. Cut it.
Reason #6: You have no patience and don’t care if it stays that way. Growing out a pixie is great if you want to increase your patience, but if that awkward stage makes you want to gouge your eyes out every time you look in the mirror, then please cut your hair instead. Speaking of awkward stages…
Reason #7: Yours looks more like the one on the right.
We all want to look like Katie Holmes with a chin-length bob. But it’s time to face reality.
Reason #8: You have adorable curly hair. And it happens to look even better short.
Reason #9: You’re a makeup junkie. Pixie cuts almost always require makeup to keep you looking feminine, so if you’re a beauty whore, that’s all the more reason to cut your hair and show off more of that gorgeous face.
Reason #10: (Or #842…) Because breaking a sweat while blow drying your hair after a shower just ain’t worth it.
